The Charity Auction of the Fundación Balia held its 3rd edition with great success in both fund raising and participation.

Once again FISAN has wanted to collaborate with the charity auction that the Fundación Balia organized at the Thyssen Bornemisza Museum on the past October 9th. The Charity Auction, which carries the name of Photographers with the Children (Fotógrafos con la Infancia), has the goal of raising funds to support children at risk of social exclusion, the same with the development of educational programs and projects. In this case it was the third edition of its charity auction, with the title of “Photographers with the Children” and it counted with the collaboration of PHotoESPAÑA, Betty Guereta, Juan Varez, Christie’s and the Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum.

Photographs taken by several national photography award winners, such as Joan Fontcuberta, Chema Madoz or Isabel Muñoz were auctioned off. Likewise collaborating was Anna Malagrida, first Spanish photographer to win the “Carte Blanche” Award, and Joanna Biarnés, first photojournalist. A unique photograph taken by the award-winning and renown Cristina Iglesias and emblematic works by Carmen Ballvé, Dionisio González, Jordi Bernadó, Leopoldo Pomés and Txomin Badiola, as well as other works by international artists such as Boris Savelev, Geert Goiris, Gonzalo Lebrija, Jack Pierson, José Dávila, Massimo Vitali, Miguel Rothschild and Sally Man. And for the first time ever a piece of art that is as yet unmade was also auctioned. The artist Alberto García Alix, one of our country’s most relevant photographers and portraitist, will be in charge of portraying the person who made the highest bid.

And of course, following the charity auction, which was set-up by Christie’s team of professionals, a delicious cocktail was offered by Medems, which counted with FISAN’s master ham carvers who delighted the attending public with two of its fabulous GRAN RESERVA hams.
